Peter M. McLinden, Esq.
Pete McLinden was elected to the Cincinnati AFL-CIO Executive Board in 2006 and subsequently elected to his current leadership position as its Executive Secretary – Treasurer in July of 2014. In that capacity, he provides leadership to hard-working working men and women in the organized Labor Community of Greater Cincinnati.
Never a more true believer in the power of Organized Labor, Pete’s career is a life in the Movement. He firmly believes unions serve the same essential purpose today that they did when they were founded; Increasing wages for hardworking men, women, raising the standard of living for the working class, ensuring safe working conditions, and Increasing benefits for workers and their families. From his days as member of The United Steelworkers (USW) and the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), both in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Communication Workers of America (CWA) in Cleveland, Ohio to the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Ohio Council 8, his dedication to the cause is steadfast.
Pete’s civic involvement extends well beyond Labor to the broader Community where he serves, providing leadership to the United Way of Greater Cincinnati as a member of its Executive Committee, the Greater Cincinnati Occupational Health Center as its Board Chair, Cincinnati Labor Agency for Social Services as Board President, a member of the Hamilton County Democratic Party Executive Committee, and Ohio Public Employees Lawyers Association President. He is a member of the Cincinnati Public Schools Business Education Connectivity Council and he sits on the Board of Directors for the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.
A member of Pi Alpha Alpha, National Honor Society for Public Administration (1998), and Phi Delta Phi, National Law Fraternity (1995-97), Pete holds a Bachelor of Arts from John Carroll University, Master or Public Administration and his Juris Doctorate both from University of Akron.
